Longtime partners team up again to combine the best visual computing tech with the best automotive engineering—Audi has teamed up with NVIDIA to work on the future of autonomous driving, looking toward 2020 with hope for production. For the time being, the two companies have collaborated on an Audi Q7 piloted driving concept vehicle.

NVIDIA will use deep-learning AI to hone and refine Audi’s piloted driving technology. The Q7 piloted driving concept vehicle was recently demonstrated at the CES 2017, where it performed several laps (on a closed course), where the track was changed mid-test, forcing the model to adapt to the new course in real-time.

“Audi drivers know the pinnacle of performance and technology,’’ said Scott Keogh, President of Audi of America. “In our mutual pursuit for safer roads, the partnership between Audi and NVIDIA will expand to deep learning and artificial intelligence to bring higher automation into production more quickly.” —from a 05.01.17 Audi USA Press Release

"NVIDIA is pioneering the use of deep learning AI to revolutionize transportation,” said Jen-Hsun Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA. “Audi's adoption of our DRIVE computing platform will accelerate the introduction of next-generation automated vehicles, moving us closer to a future of greater driving safety and new mobility services." —from a 05.01.17 Audi USA Press Release

As Audi continues looking toward the future of autonomous driving, it will continue to deploy authorized testing on public roads in California.
